Logo clouds

Logo clouds are part of many media kits and newsletter signup pages.

For good reason! They add social proof. They make people trust you.

What logo clouds help with

They show advertisers that you have the people they want to reach.

They show potential readers that your content is worth reading.

It’s crazy how much we, as humans, base our judgment on what other people think.

How to make a logo cloud

1. Find notable companies from your audience

Look at your subscriber list. Pull out interesting company names.

As a B2B media company, you should have data on what your subscribers do for work.

If you do, sort your subscribers by company size in descending order. (Often, the most important companies will be the largest.) Then go through your list and pull out the most notable company names.

bob@techsolutions.comTech Solutions329,000

If you don’t have much audience data yet, do the following:

  1. Pull out the domain name from each email on your list
    • Excel formula: =RIGHT(A1,LEN(A1)-FIND("@",A1))
  2. Remove all duplicate domain names
    • In Excel via DataRemove Duplicates
  3. Find the most notable company names on that list

Ad: 85% of newsletter subscribers use personal emails. To get the company names of your Gmail subscribers, use Megahit.

At the end, you should have a shortlist of 10–40 company names:

Microsoft
Google
Apple
Nvidia

2. Find their logos on Google

Google for “Microsoft logo” or “Apple logo.”

Try to pick an image that:

  1. Has a transparent background
  2. Is an SVG file—those will look the best
  3. If no SVG exists, is a PNG file with a high resolution

3. Create a logo cloud

You can use graphics software such as Canva to do that.

Or you can embed all logos individually on your website or in a PDF.

Where to show your logo cloud

Ad: Use Megahit to grow your business

Over the last two years, I’ve built Megahit, a data tool for B2B media companies.

Megahit finds your subscribers’ names, job titles, companies, locations, LinkedIn profiles, and more. All from their email addresses. (It even works for Gmails!)

Then it helps you show sponsors who is reading, find new sponsors among your subscribers, send targeted advertiser emails, and more.

Check out Megahit! I’d love to give you a demo.
